There are numerous image converters out there to pick from, so why should you go with the Sheldon Solutions-developed Photo Magician? A single-word answer to that question is “speed.” Everything about this application is focused on getting things done as fast as possible. And the cherry on top is that to enjoy the functionality Photo Magician has to offer, you don’t have to part with your money.

As the Photo Magician installation file weighs in at a lightweight 2.2MB, the download will complete in a blink. The same can be said about clicking through the setup wizard that shows up when you run the 2.2MB installation file. Please note that the setup wizard will ask you to get Nitro PDF Reader, a fully-featured free PDF reader. You can opt out if you don’t want it.

A quick look at Photo Magician’s interface and you will have things figured out. That’s because everything is neatly organized and presented to you in a very easy to figure out fashion. At the top you have buttons to select the input and the output folder. To the left you have buttons to pick a Profile, play with the Conversion Settings, and adjust the Options. You also have a button to check for updates and a Command Line Parameters button – click it and you will be presented with instructions on how to run Photo Magician with command line parameters.

Getting things done with Photo Magician is a speedy process – much like everything about this application. After you pick the input and output folders, you must select a Profile, adjust the Conversion Settings, and then let Photo Magician do its thing. There are numerous Profiles to choose from to resize images. From the Conversion Settings menu you can choose to apply effects, pick the format for conversion, choose if you want to exclude images, and more. When you’re done playing with the Profile and Conversion Settings and you tell Photo Magician to do its thing, it will complete the job at a lightning-fast pace.

You are presented with three options once Photo Magician is done with a conversion job: you can email images, upload them to a FTP server, or share them via popular social networking site Facebook.

To make using Photo Magician an even easier task, the application features a Quick Convert Mode. The option to launch Quick Convert Mode becomes available after you pick a Profile. Just drag and drop images onto the magician’s hat in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and they will be modified based on the profile you select.

As mentioned above, Photo Magician is freeware. You get access to all this wonderful functionality and you don’t have to spend a dime.

Photo Magician is a wonderful image converter – it’s fast, it’s free, it looks great, it is a pleasure to use the application.

Pros

Takes but a moment to have Photo Magician up and running on your PC. You won’t have any problems figuring out the interface. There are many Profiles to choose from, many Conversion Settings to play with. You can use Photo Magician with command line parameters. There’s a handy Quick Convert Mode. Photo Magician is freeware. You can opt out of installing Nitro PDF Reader.

Cons

None that I could think of.
